PRIMAA is the Peace Region’s media arts collective.
The Peace Region Independent Media Arts Association is a non-profit society founded in 2013 to support and develop film and digital media artists throughout the Peace Region of Northern Alberta. We exist to support original media artists of all kinds.
- Filmmaking, Directing, Acting, Film Crafts
- Audio Production, Music, Composing
- Visual Effects, Digital Arts
- More (we kept it vague on purpose)
We aim to facilitate the growth of the media arts community and commercial media arts industries in Northern Alberta.
Our active programming includes regular member workshops, our monthly Film Stew development club, special hands-on events, member showcases, the annual Frantic48 filmmaking challenge, and casual social events among artists and filmmakers.
Thanks to recent grant funding and ongoing fundraising efforts, we will soon be able to offer a media equipment rental service, facilitating affordable professional gear to Northern arts communities.
We are ambitiously trying to grow and eagerly welcome donations, volunteers, and of course, new members.
MEMBERSHIP, SUPPORT, PARTNERSHIP, COLLABORATION
Membership is open to the public at large and our mandate includes support for filmmakers and artists of all levels. We encourage youth to get involved and begin learning the crafts behind media arts at a young age. Our service area includes the entire Peace Region and we are eager to form additional partnerships among arts groups, youth organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders. If you are interested in helping PRIMAA or working together to support media arts of any kind in your Peace Region community, we would love to talk with you about how PRIMAA can help.
