SUMMARY:Speed Sisters - Second Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: GPLT and PRIMAA have added this second screening after tickets to the June 23 screening sold out. There are still tickets for this screening\, and Director Amber Fares will be answering questions at both. \n“A spirited\, crowd-pleasing portrait.” – Indiewire \nThe Peace Region Independent Media Arts Association and Grande Prairie Live Theatre present the SPEED SISTERS. Directed and produced by a former Grande Prairian\, Amber Fares\, this documentary follows the first all-woman Middle East car racing team. \nThe Speed Sisters are the first all-woman race car driving team in the Middle East. Grabbing headlines and turning heads at improvised tracks across the West Bank\, these five women have sped their way into the heart of the gritty\, male-dominated Palestinian street car-racing scene. Weaving together their lives on and off the track\, SPEED SISTERS takes you on a surprising journey into the drive to go further and faster than anyone thought you could. \n“An eye-opening doc that succeeds in its goal of shattering stereotypes.” – The Hollywood Reporter \nDirector Amber Fares grew up in Grande Prairie. She invites her GP friends and everyone in the audience to stay after the screening for an interesting question and answer session. \n \nSPEED SISTERS - Official Festival Trailer from SocDoc Studios on Vimeo. \nTickets $12 regular\, $8 students\, available at the GPLT Box Office.
